A gorgeous Victorian Solid Silver Claret Jug / Wine Jug is a fine example typifying the Aesthetic Movement of the Late Victorian Era with a luxurious satin finish and embellished with detailed engraved patterning including floral and foliate designs and a butterfly under the neck. The scroll shaped handle has an Eastern influence and is shaped like a dragon. The jug has two large oval cartouches, one of which has a boar's head crest engraved in the center. The claret jug has a hinged lid.
This Claret Jug is in good condition and is hallmarked. Marked Elkington & Co - Liverpool.
Made in London.
