A truly spectacular example of Austrian Enameling, this Box has a detailed image of Salome leaning over the head of John the Baptist's head on a platter. The artist responsible for this image paid lavish attention to detail and used dramatic rich colours to create this scene. The sides and base of the box are covered with a deep grey guilloche enamel. The interior is gilded. This Box is presented in its original fitted case.
