RARE VICTORIAN GRECIAN STYLE CLARET JUG EWER LONDON 1839

An exceptional Antique Victorian Solid Silver Claret Jug / Wine Ewer embellished with a classical Greek design. The Body of the Jug is decorated with applied Greek Mythological Figures depicting a winged figure holding a mirror and a woman holding out a plate of food. The rest of the body of the jug is embellished with styalised shell and swirl pattern and there is an engraved flower between the two figures. The scroll handle has a face at the base of the handle and three faces at the top of the handle embellishing the shaped neck and spout. The jug stands on a pedestal foot.

The underside of the foot has a message engraved.
